Cool Cruise Control Sensor

Has this happened to anyone else? You open the door from the outside of your Compass and the horn sounds for 30 seconds. It doesn't matter if you start the engine or not the horn go off for 30 seconds and it doesn't have anything to do with the panic button. I am asking because this has happened to me twice. I purchased my Jeep Compass Ltd. 4x4 in July of 2012 new. In January of 2013 one day I unlocked my vehicle and the horn sounded for 30 seconds and every time after that that I opened a door from the outside the same thing happened. I took my jeep in to service and it was discovered that the problem was with the cruise control sensor. Evidently the horn and the cruise control are connected. At that time I had 2054 miles on the odometer. The vehicle was still under warranty so there was no charge. Well the same thing happened last week. So I go back to service and the problem is the same, the cruise control sensor. I now have 16,618 miles on my Compass and have used the cruise control approximately 36 times since Sept. 2014 for 2 hours 2 days a month. I use my Jeep for pleasure and live in a very small town. I travel for 400 miles once a month and have never taken the Jeep off road. I feel that Jeep knows that there is a problem with this part based on what my service tech told me. The part number has remained the same thru out the years but the alpha prefix has changed. It was explained to me that the initial sensor had a prefix of AA and the one that was just installed has a prefix of AF. Meaning that the sensor has been updated 5 times in the past 9 years. I feel Jeep should reimburse me for the cost of the new sensor, part plus labor $120.00. What do you guys think?

Hi Ryan:
I am not sure what a Jeep Social Care Specialist does. So before I supply you with specific info would you please email me at [email protected]. I would feel better about communicating with you there.
Thank you
Carol
