Oh you darn clunking noise.

Here is the deal ladies and gents.

2007 Jeep Compass Limited 2.4L 2x4. Clunking started at the end of summer. Thought it was the Struts because they were definately leaking. Replaced them as the warranty had expired in July. Rode fine for about 2 weeks and noticed clunking noise. After reading many forums and multiple TSB's I decided it might be the Ball Joints and Sway Bar end links.

Bought a ball press and the appropriate parts and did it myself. Glad I did because you could literally hold the ball joints and the spindle protion would just flap around like a limp noodle.

Well I took it out for a test spin and guess what. Still a horrible rattling noise. My only options are to a. look it it tomorrow and ensure the control arm is not loose. If this is fine then I go to b. Ensure the Sway Bar End Links are tight. C. Ensure they Stabilizer Bar Bushings are good. If not I will replace ( Anyone know the right size to get?). Or the final d. take it to the dealer and let them rape me like some of the other people have been from what I can read.
