smokey01 In sask we have what's known as no fault insurance. I don't know why they call it that but any accident caused by you is covered by your insurance and you cover the other person's insurance deductible. My deductible is only $50 so I'm not too worried about a lot of damage.

tripplec Here in Ontario it a bit daunting. If you're both in motion and not your fault in the sense that the other driver broke the rules or hit when having no reasonable ability to avoid the collision you're both tarred with the accident on your record.
However, if parked or at a full stop because of all other traffic stopped ahead then the other driver is 100% at fault and their insurance company bears the full cost of repairs etc. No record of accident for you.

However, most situation end up in both vehicles being at fault in the eyes of the insurance companies even when you have no ability to avoid them hitting you.

i2canoe Should not cost the Compass owner anything more that inconvenience . . . the responsible parties insurance will cover 100%, as will as loaner car during repairs.

Cherokee Unfortunately tripplec, it does cost you the deductible as the insruance company still has to cover the repairs. The only thing it doesn't do is count against you as a claim so it doesn't affect the premium you pay and it doesn't count agains your licesnse, not in LA, anyway.

tripplec Well if it was parked or not moving. The other driver is 100% at fault so it won't cost you even the deductible. Getting the perp is the only really big thing though and it sounds like you did.

Good luck

I started off on foot . . . leaving it looked to me so I turned around to follow, but a citizen on foot pointed out a public works vehicle coming down the street so the driver went over to them to explain and I suppose get the authorities . . . but no . . . he did not run off.

Scratch one White Compass

So I'm driving to work Friday, following a residential through street (Ellerdale-Hamptstead if you know the neighbourhood), I pass a nice Compass corner, three Compasses live in apartment building on this corner, a white one, a black one and lately a burgundy one.
Anyways, as I continue by the corner a van travelling the opposite direction, not speeding or anything, just decided to veer into the parked white Compass on the corner. Does not just bump it a bit, but destroys the whole driver's side. Mashes the rear wheel, creams the whole side from back to front and ends up with a busted front axle itself!
What a lousy thing to wake up to for the white Compass owner. Friday the 13th? Way to start a weekend!
