CompassLimited | Nice job Shecky. Looks like you need more rain to finish cleaning the engine bay. |

I was just asking because it looks like it's everywhere. I had that happen in my Compass after an oil change at the dealership. They overfilled it by nearly a quart, and, thankfully, in the Compass, if that happens, the dipstick will pop up to help relieve the pressure rather than have seal problems, so that just looked all too familiar as I had oil ALL over the engine bay, lol and hoped that wasn't the case with yours! - Cherokee |

Question for you Ffl does your wife think you are nuts? Mine does, but not for painting the engine cover. |

Knightfall | Both those paint jobs look great. I like the first one a little more because how the area with writing was left black. Good job on both of them though. I may have to do this sometime myself since it's not exactly a high budget addition. |

Jeepster2, I don't think it matters at all, as most Calibers and the 2.0 Compasses/Patriots don't even get an engine cover any more. If you're serious about getting rid of it, I wouldn't mind it! I'd pay for shipping! ![]() |

Nice job Guys, and no disrespect to what you have done, but can that "hell's helmet" engine cover be discarded without adverse effect? I don't like it, and would surely throw it away if it doesn't hurt anything. If it is needed, then I'll probably paint mine silver. ![]() |

Well not to out do my friend CL...... Here is my version of this mod....... ![]() Couldn't find shades of green in heat proof paint.........I think it came out pretty good...............the letters were made with a simple black permanent marker directly on the red paint......... |

Elbow grease. Actually I like Liquid Ice from Turtle wax. It is the only wax product I have found that you can use on flat black car parts that does not leave a white residue. I keep one applicator just for the engine bay which I wash after each use. I also wear a disposable surgical glove when using this stuff cause when you get it under under your fingernails its imposs......WHOA now I'm giving beauty tips. I just keep applying Liquid Ice and wiping it off until things look clean under the hood. A little bit of Ice goes a loonnngggg way! If you think you might some day paint your engine cover do NOT apply it to anything you are going to paint. This will actually cross over to the Thread I started in Aftermarket Accessories / Parts under What products do you use to clean, polish, protect your car? when I get off my lazy rear end and take some photos. |

smokey01 | I knew there would be a catch somewhere. I hadn't considered the intake, being such a pain it was to install, but that might look really good too. |
