transmission help

I own a 2007 2.4 litre Jeep Compass,

Recently it has been running loud, when I'm driving it wont shift gears when I drive past the speed of 60ish.

My dad put a quart of transmission fluid for Chrysler vehicles today and thought that maybe the problem but it still sounds the same.

Someone else told me that my transmission may be running on its last leg.

Please help!

Its a CVT transmission. It uses a very specific fluid. There is no real filler as its capped off tube. So if he put regular Chrysler ATF fluid in it you're in for a flushing in the least and if the CVT is shot so is the vehicle. They are very very expensive.

If you have a CVT transmission, stop driving the vehicle, regular ATF +4 will kill the transmission, you need to take it to a dealer and get it flushed filter, gasket and o-ring replaced.

Dealer charged me 340$ to do this job and the problem came back after 20 000 KM

I am about to take it in to get oil level checked, I suspect I have a leak

does your vehicle whine loudly? do you get the over heat gear light in your dash?
