Changing transmission fluid in the 6 speed automatic

Has anyone, or is anyone considering, changing the transmission fluid in the 6 speed automatic? The PowerTech 6F24 is a hyundai transmission used in the 2014 and up Compass and Patriot. I've found some info, and diy videos, on Hyundai/Kia models with the same gearbox, and the fluid looks pretty dirty even after only 30 or so thousand miles.

So far I've learned that there is a mopar service tool which is a small dipstick that is used to check the fluid level, but not much step by step info out there by any owners who have attempted this service on a Compass/Patriot.

You need to be beyond 100% you are using the correct transmission fluid type. Multivehicle types rarely are compatible. At least you don't have a CVT, which I don't recommend.

Jeep Compass 2009
4x4, 2.4L, CVT
North Edition
heated seats, TPMS
General Altimax RT43 P225/65R17
Yellow Fog Lamps
CLASS III Curtis Hitch
SOLD @ 153,000km Oct. 2018 THE END !!

I've used Valvoline Max Life LV transmission fluid in my son's 2013 Hyundai Elantra which has the the same 6 speed transmission as the Jeep Compass. I did a complete flush using the transmission return line until all the fluid was replaced. The factory fluid was jet black when I initially drained it.

I read a lot of Hyundai Owers use Valvoline Max Life LV ATF and the bottle says it complies with SP-IV. Even in the video reference here he uses Valvoline. I contacted him and stated he has had no problems with Max Life in his Hyundai cars..

I was leery using it simply because I have a Chrysler car which requires ATF+4 and if you don't use ATF +4 you will ruin your transmission. With Chrysler you cannot use multi use ATF even it is says it complies with ATF+4 and there is sufficient information where people have had serious problems.

Now going back to the Powertech Transmission in the Compass and Hyundai....... my son has put on 30,000 km since I changed it and the transmission shift very smooth. He has over 100,000 km on the car. Given the cost of Valvoline is so low I plan on draining the transmission annually and install 4 clean quarts every year....Its the cost of an oil change vs. $4,000 for a new transmission.
