1300 miles, Leaking CVT (Cracked Tranny Housing)

I just took my wife's compass in for what I imagine is going to be a huge repair.

We have 1300 miles on it and it was leaking oil on the driveway, and I put it up on ramps, and saw that the tranny housing is cracked (OUCH!)

My wife is pissed, naturally. Has anyone heard of this problem? I wonder if they'll replace the whole transmission?

wowo never heard of it..

If it is a defect you can bet warranty will cover it. I can't imagine that is something you could do by accident without knowing it.

For us 8 months and it has been rock solid.

best of luck.

Wow, impressive problem. Never heard something like this could happen at all.

It is also quite weird that you did not have any warning light lit up in the dash.

Good luck and keep us posted !
