I live in Florida, so we don't have extreme cold weather conditions here, but I have been having some problems with my Compass early in the morning when I'm on my way to work. The weather is only about 70-50 degrees (F), depending on the day, but within the first 10 minutes of driving (usually before I've even left my neighborhood) my Transmission Over Temp Light comes on, and my rpms jump to about 1000 more than they should be, with barely any acceleration.
Picture watching a film in slow motion, and that's how it moves. The light will cycle on and off for a few minutes, depending on how long I try to mainatain my speed; then when the engine temperature reaches normal, the problem stops.
I already brought it in once a couple of weeks ago when this happened, and they re-set the computer and said it was a sensor error. It's happened almost every day this week, so I'm bringing it in again, and will see what they say. When I called the service department, all they said was: "That's weird."
Also, after I brought it in, it's behaving more like a regular automatic than the new variable one.
