CV axle issues after lifiting
2011 latitude compass 4x4 with the rocky road lift kit. I have replaced the CV axle once thinking it was just normal wear. went to change my oil and saw that it torn again in the same location as the first one. Does anyone know anyway around this to keep it from happening again?

since i dont know the mechanics of that lift i have a question.
does it change the geometry of the joint in question?
if so this could be the cause of the problem

The general rule of thumb is that if you want a lift you are gonna have to expect to be chewing through CV axles all the time from running them at a harsher angle. This is an old rule that goes back to when 90's era SUV's starting coming with IFS instead of a solid front axle, but I'm guessing it still mostly holds true today.
Is the joint actually bad or just the boot keeps tearing? If you can find some larger more flexible boots to jam on there from a larger vehicle maybe they would last longer.

Exactly what everyone else here said.
The old Compasses (read: the Mitsubishi ones). Are just not arranged properly for lifting of any kind. And will eat axles and CV joints for breakfast after doing so.
The MP (Fiat platform Renegade and Compass) axles are unusually robust for vehicles of such size and weight. As well as is their Geometry coincidentally more beneficial. After lifting, they enjoy a similar angle from one end to the other of the axle as an un-lifted Mitsu Compass does. Merely by coincidence. That doesn't mean their own life won't be cut shorter. But such vehicles will handle it better in general.
