Seatbelt light and chiming noise

I am probably going to get railed for this but I find the seatbelt light and dinging noise very annoying when not wearing a seat belt. I wear it on the highway but I do a lot of driving where I just drive 2 minutes down a 25 mph road to my parents and don't want to bother with it. My brother turned it off in his 2009 ford escape, it told him how to do it in the manual believe it or not. I have a 2012 compass lattitude 2.4L. Anyone know how to disable it? And don't say just put the seatbelt on, lol! Just curious if it was possible. Please no safety speeches :P

Ok ok, no safety speeches but you might try this, I know it works on the newer Ram trucks:

1) Plug seatbelt in.
2) Turn key to the on position, engine off. Wait for seatbelt light to go off,
3) Undo and redo the seatbelt 3 times, leaving it buckled the last time.
4) Turn the key off and you should hear a chime indicating that you disabled the chime.

Hope it works and if so, you should be good to go after that.

it does work, i did it in my 2011 compass... only catch is that when you undo and re-do the seatbelt the three times, you actually have to like almost put the seat belt all the way back to the post its mounted to, cause that will then cause the seat belt light to go off and on. (you know what i mean once you do it) but it does work.
