2011 Compass AWD Crankshaft pos sensor

My wife's Compass needs a crankshaft position sensor. From what I have read, it is shown on the driver's side on the fwd, but the instructions for see say to remove the PASSENGER side axle on Awd models? I hate to remove anything that isn't necessary.
Thanks for any guidance.

Got it done. Did it from top, just like fwd. Don't understand why awd procedure would be any different.
