2011 compass headlamp issues

Hi guys, new owner here.

I've got a 70th anniversary Compass. The headlamps seem very poor and one side doesn't go on to main beam at all. A local spares place replaced the bulbs but no better. They said that the bulbs and fuses are fine so there must be another issue. The bulbs are H9 which do both main and dipped beams so I'm confused how one side works with both dipped/main and one only works dipped. The running light bulbs were also replaced as they were dead but both have blown again and look melted and discoloured as though they got too hot.

Any ideas gratefully received!

Cheers, Jon

Hi, I know it's not much help but I have the same issue on my 2012 compass.
The drivers side is dreadful and the passenger side is marginally better, I would be better taping torches to the headlamps!
I have tried LED lamps and HID's but the car rejects them each time, I only discovered I had running lights after I replaced the sidelights!
The old ones looked melted as well, also the the bad headlight has some evidence of burning around the case!

So it's not just me! Anyone else experienced/solved this issue?!
