Total Power Loss

2007 Compass. I have had headlight issues and figured out they were not getting grounded so I just grounded them separately. Turn signal same problem same solution. Fog lights have stopped working haven't checked the ground on them yet. Brake light is on, check engine light is on. BIG PROBLEM is when I turn on rear wiper or pull lever for washer I lose all lights including the dash and gauges. Have to disconnect battery to reset. Oh and a/c has stopped working. I'm thinking that all these issues have to do with a main ground somewhere. Any ideas? Really like the compass but man it has electrical problems.

some electrical problems are tied to the computer system/accessories needing to be flashed too - with that variety of issues have you taken it in to either a mechanic that can handle electrical or to your dealer? do you have aftermarket items like radios etc that might also need to be flashed?

We have a 2017 Compass that we upgraded the radio on - ran great for near 8 months in that config - had a problem with the hot air system for the heater - they replaced an actuator and flashed the onboard computer - after that for weeks we had issues where the battery was running down - turns out that update then required our radio to update - it was NOT a hard failure or drain it was a conflict that was created when the dealer updated the onboard computer - now that we have that all worked out everything is 100% fine again. Sometimes it is a bad drain from some hardware - sometimes it is computer based - but you need the right people who check everything not just assume.

good luck!

I had a very similar issue. Turned out to be the headlight stalk attached to the steering wheel. Cost about 30 dollars for the part and 5 minutes to swap out with a couple screws. Putting the steering wheel cover back on straight was harder than replacing the switch .

Update: problems with passenger side headlight, turn signal, fog light, manifold flow, a/c, 02 sensor and red break light on cluster was all caused by the g110 ground which is located underneath the windshield washer tank. The wires looked ok but after splicing in to them about 4 inches back from the eyelet everything was fixed. Now to tackle the drivers side.
