Exclamation 4WD Warning Light Error!! HELP!

I have an indicator light that keeps coming on. It isn't the light the tells you that you are currently in 4WD. It's a different light that is to the left of the regular 4WD light. It says 4WD!, but I don't know what it means. I had my mechanic look at it and he said I am not in 4WD and it is working properly. He thinks it may be a bad connection or sensor in the computer. Has anyone had this problem? I hope I explained it correctly. If anyone can help me figure this out, I would really appreciate it. Can I get an inspection sticker with that light on?

The light means there is a malfunction in the 4wd system. Could be a glitch in the computer or an actual problem. Don't think it effects the inspection sticker. Might wanna have a dealership look at it to be sure.

You most likely have a bad connection which is causing a break in the communication to the 4wd module (basically the clutch that shifts power to the rear wheels).

I had this exact problem in my old 08 Patriot, when the light is on you will only have front wheel drive.

Often the problem is caused by corroded wires near the floor on the driver's side on the left, near that plastic foot rest pedal. Why Jeep decided to put sensitive wire there I don't know. Dealership should be able to scan it and tell you the problem right away.

PM me if you have any more questions.

I had same problem. Got a diagnostic done. There was a fault with the rear wheel sensor. Got it for I think 20 euro. Cleared the faults and light stayed off. Problem solved

My daughter was hit in the front of her car- head on collision. The insurance company paid for the autobody parts, new tire by the other driver's insurance as it was the other driver's fault. Although, she still has a 4WD light on the dash that is affecting her 4WD, also during the body work repairs the manager let us know the front end had a dent in the suspension bar- which would cost extra, so the clean Car Fax didn't tell the truth as this car has been in a previous accident.
So, we go back to the dealer for a checkup on the lights in dash (we've been in this shop several times since we bought the jeep), so after a partial diagnosis, the service manager said it could be a few things-this module for 4WD but it would cost money to find out. So, now they won't even consider looking at this issue and how the accident couldn't have contributed to the 4WD lights being on- saying it was previous condition to go along with the lemon they sold us in the first place, which has damage on the underside, bad CarFax, and bullying our daughter not to say anything about the 4WD because it already had this issue, any recommendations?? please?

Question 4wd! Light Intermittently

Tyler-98-W68 I have a 2009 Patriot and the light is intermittent when I am driving sometimes. I can drive down the highway for 2 hrs and then suddenly it will come on, be on for a minute or two then goes off. Same thing can happen on my 5 minute drive to work. Comes on for a few seconds and then goes off. Maybe this is my issue?
JEEP have quoted me $145 AUD for the first hr to diagnose but they will need the car light to come on which isn't guaranteed unless they are prepared to take it for a long enough drive.
They said it may also be an update or patch that is needed.

2007 Jeep Compass, my Mom bought it used. The (4WD!) light comes on and sometimes it will all but bog down to a complete stop. Sometimes it stalls the jeep. You restart it and continue on your way. What would cause this? Also the ABS and EPS lights stay on. Please help!
