Question Liftgate noise/rattle

Hi guys!

Have any of you been having trouble with your liftgate? When it,s shut, it seems uneven (one side seems to have a bigger gap than the other), and it makes a rattling noise when I go over the smallest bump, almost like my door isn't properly shut (but it is). The noise isn't coming from my license plate. I have brought it in to the dealership once for this, they changed some pins or straps underneath, but the problem is still persisting. I am bringing it in tomorrow, but wanted to see if any of you have had the same problem and what it was.
Thanks!

I have had this problem crop up with other brands of cars that I have owned over the years especially my Dodge Caravan. It requires finesse but there are a series of adjustments you can make to the hinges and particularly the actual locking mechanism to correct most mis-alingment issues. Most of the time this condition is caused by body flex as in from a car wreck or extremely rough handling of the liftgate when opening and mostly closing. Remember too, that some dealers have techs that sneak under the radar and should still be behind the parts counter at Auto Zone!

i had this same problem and i brought it to jeep for them to look at. they told me it was the lift gate pistons. they replaced them and the sound seemed to go away. the door also was still not lined up properly though. then about a month later the noise came back. so i decided to take matters into my own hands. i found that if you just loosen the bolts on the hinges and push the lift gate up it will allow you to adjust the lift gate. then i would only tighten one at a time till the gate was lined up judging by opening and closing the gate till i got it lined up. the sound is now gone!!!!!!

Thanks!!
I brought it to a dealership 2 times, they changed pins and also the lift gate pistons, tightened the spoiler but it didn't do much!
So I brought it to another dealership, they then told me that my rear shocks were leaking, so they installed new struts and mounts etc....
It seemed to do the trick, until the noise came back!!!! I will wait for a little while before I bring it back, the noise comes and goes it's weird!

I will have to check this. I bought my Compass a few weeks a go and Carmax said it was the latch on the rear passenger seat.
