Weird ignition fault

Hi guys hope you guys can shed some light on this issue.

I have a 2012 Compass and when i turn off the ignition off the engine continues to run for about a second. Not the end of the world I know but then when you take the key out of the ignition the dash board says 'key in ignition' and there is a warning bleep when i open the door. The first thing i did was replace the ignition switch. No change. There are no fault codes in the system. I took it to a Jeep specialist and he said it needed a new ECU. I had a warranty on it so decedied to go ahead and replace the ECU. No change.

I'm now struggling to figure out what the next step is. Jeep are recommending possibly replacing the body control module (fuse box next to the battery) but that is nearly 1000 and my warranty company will not cover another claim.

Has anybody ever heard of anything like this?????

Any help or access to wiring diagrams would be appreiciated.
