18 inch Geolanders on a Limited

I thinking about putting 235/50/18 Yokohama Geolander All Terrain tires on the stock Limited Rims. 1010tires.com say there would be no fitment issues and can send me a sent for a reasonable price. Has anyone done this already? I don't like 215/55/18 all season performance tires that came on the Compass when I bought it, but I do like the rims.

I'm a newby with a 2012 Limited Compass in Rescue green, no mods yet, only 1700 kms on it and loving it so far. Reminds me of the old Lada Niva I used to own.

I"ve got a 2012 Limited FDII offroad package, so my compass came with 17" rims, however I have a set of 18" chrome Caliber RT Rims, exact same specs as the compass 18" tires. I'm running 225/60/18 tires on those rims overall diameter of 28.6" (.6" larger than stock)

In addition on my previous 2008 Patriot I bought a set of Chrome 18" compass wheels and ran 225/55/18 tires on those rims.

Between the 2 I like the 225/60/18 because it has more sidewall (don't like low pro tires they don't really fit on a jeep but others may disagree)

225/60/18 tires

225/55/18 tires

Both sizes of tires do not rub at all.

I haven't run a 235 tire on an pat or compass before but i'm not sure if you would be safe with it not rubbing. Overall diamter is slightly smaller than the original size, it probably would fit though, if possible maybe do a test fit if you could.

I would suggest going with a 225/55/18 a little bit bigger and stock, and won't rub at all.

Just for extra assurance I have heard of people using these tires (235/50-1 over here in the PRC, with no problems. I was lucky enough to pick up a 215/55-18 original tire 2nd hand on the cheap ($20USD - 70% new) cause somebody had done this. No probs whatsoever.
By the way I kind of agree with Tyler that the low profiles on the patriot in his pics dont look as good as the 60s on the compass. Not a huge difference but it is noticeable... If you put these 235/50-18s on you will definitely be gettng that low-profile look!
