My Limited Rim ?

Hello all and thanks in advance.
Here is my question on the stock rims/skins.
I purchased a 2008 Compass Limited.
I see on my my tires that they are 215/55R18 so I imagine that the rims are
stock 18 in rims.
Do the chrome shells comes off from the rims themselves?
Reason why I am asking this is because the chrome covers or skins are in wonderful shape but the actual rims are really pitted (on all 4 rims) and it is noticeable, especially around the edge between the tire and skin/cover.
Can you purchase just the plain rims and reuse the shells and if you can where can I get the rims at? I have scoured the web looking for just the plain rims and have come up empty handed or accidentally passed them or is it better just to get actual rims without the skins. I would like to keep them original if possible but not in the way I break the bank.

Garage
I have the same thing on my 18" rims.
The only one way is to sand and varnish the rims.

In french, it is called "rouille blanche".

I have a friend who is a scientist, he has a little chemical company and said to me that is not dangerous, just ugly...

Thanks Julio...I had to google that. White Rust, yep that's exactly what it looks like.
Guess I'm going to spending a little time trying to get these back to somewhat normal. I tried to break the lug-nuts off one of the wheels but the dealer has them so tight that even a lug-nut wrench with a conduit extension on the end wouldn't even budge them. Looks like its' impact wrench time.
