different makes of tire front and rear

Hi All
I bought a used 2011 compass from a dealer. Les Schwab pointed out the car has different makes of tire front and rear, but same size, so they would not rotate them. They said it would effect warranty. The car has 38000 miles. Does this effect the drivetrain? And the warranty? Thank you

Only if its a 4x4. You keep the same type on each axle though and you can rotate them (front to back, which means backs go on the front). That is pretty much what is done anyway. Size is important for ABS sensors. If you have another dealer in your area you may might take it there in the future. Any excuse to void warranty.

But having said that.

You bought it from a dealer!!! So call Chyrsler customer relations and confirm with them and then the dealer. If its not correct and in violation of safety inspections then they must make it right and have all the same tire. Don't wait too long or you'll be SOL. A dealer cannot sell a vehicle that does not or cannot pass safety standards in your area.

Ok after no more that 40km I have cupping (uneven wear of block on the tire). I appears it will not wear correct and the noise and road noise can drive you to drink. (Already do, so no out for me0

Alignment it hard locked in the design and no adjustment points build into this vehicles design for your information. Tracking and other handling is normal and visually none of the tires show odd wear indicating an alignment issue either. Bad shocks supposedly can cause this but all 4 struts have been replace after the tires were installed. I cannot see that as the cause.

What I do believe is these version of mult-thread design of the "Nokian WGR2" Tire is ill suited for our roads. If you look at the design of these threads. They have the summer dry road thread to the right and the winter weather thread to the left side. (left side and inner blocks are the problem I have) They are not wearing normally and something is affecting those more aggressive block designs on that side.

I would caution anyone buying tires which do not have symmetrical thread as is the norm. This can be a costly mistake when this happens. These tires are not cheap.
