2010 Sport 4x4 How wide can i go?

Hello all, new member to the forum and have a question that i am sure gets asked all the time though i am finding it hard to get a clear answer. I want to get a more aggressive looking set of tires on the Compass as the OEM 215's look TINY! I would like to know what is the widest possible tire i can fit without rubbing? From what i have read it seems like 225 or some 235's are about it but would i be able to go even wider say 245 or 255 if i ran a spacer?

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

255 would be 1.5inch wider then stock. Our rims are only 18x7, at least that's what mine are.

I had 295's on 8inch wide wheels once, and they looked cool but they wore out realllly bad and didn't get a hole lot of life out of them

255 to a 7inch wide rim is almost equal to a 295 to a 8 inch rim, is my point.

just something to think about!

I'd say if you want wider buy some aftermarket rims with an offset then you can go wider and sit more flush with the rest of the car. I personally hate how far in our wheels sit from the fenders... looks ugly

7inch wide wheels would work with a 235. that's only .75 inch wider then stock.

Im buying new tires here in acouple weeks and I'm going 235/50 18
and my rims are stock 18x7

You can do 245/65/17 with 1.5' spaces but that is the absolute limit using factory 17" wheels as they are only 6.5" wide.
