After taking care a bunch of the preventative maintenance on a 2007 Compass that I recently inherited I wanted to upgrade the sound system.

Pretty low budget:
- $300 Refurb, double DIN Pioneer with wireless Android Auto/CarPlay
- $100 Refurb, Alpine MRV-M250 sub amplifier, 250 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms
- $20, Amazon backup camera
- $60 (x2) Infinity Reference 6032cf 6.5" speakers in doors
- $89 Infinity Reference REF1000S 10" shallow mount subwoofer
- $35, OEM subwoofer enclosure
- $40, OEM mounting hardware
- $20, subwoofer wiring kit

My car came with the storage cubby and no factory sub. The plan was to buy a non-working sub/enclosure on eBay and mount a 10" woofer. Here are some photos from the process:

Removed interior trim

OEM enclosure test fit

Measured existing mounting holes

OEM mounting hardware

Applied "Frostking" insulation I had left over from insulating my espresso machine

New vs old

Mark once, cut many times

Masking area with filling with "Great Stuff" foam

Test fit

Mounted to car + hardened foam

Designed and printed amp mounting brackets. The OEM trunk studs take M6 nuts.

Amp hidden after trimming and reinstalling trunk trim

Amp mounted with brackets

Interior trim work

Trim finished

Dam this is what I’d like to do to my Compass. Can’t find housing/trim
Keep an eye on eBay for the enclosure. Look for "parts" or "nonworking" enclosures with/without amps. Also worth seeing if the enclosure is used in any other makes/models. Good luck!
