I've been battling an evap issue with my Jeep compass for sometime.
Symptoms in the order they have happened:
My assumption is the evap canister is getting flooded with fuel and/or vapors and not allowing the tank to vent properly. Although this doesn't explain the overflow.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Symptoms in the order they have happened:
- Engine stalling and rough idling after refueling tank completely (until fuel station nozzle shut-off). Usually clears up once steady acceleration/driving for a couple of minutes.
- Smelled fuel after refueling for several days.
- replace roll over valve in fuel tank
- flushed fuel tank
- replaced fuel pump assembly and o-ring
- replaced fuel pump locking ring
- replaced fuel cap
- Engine still stalling and rough idling after refueling tank completely (until fuel station nozzle shut-off). Usually clears up once steady acceleration/driving for a couple of minutes.
- Smelled fuel after refueling for several days
- replaced leak detection pump on evap canister
- replaced lead detection pump filter
- Fuel Cap warning persistent on dash display.
- replaced fuel cap again
- While refueling tank fuel spilled over at tank or somewhere under jeep. The recovery tube at fill neck did not fill up.
- Engine stalling 10 times more often and not clearing up as quickly.
