Hello all my jeep is 2011 compass it has 59000 miles on it I purchased it about 2 yes ago with no issues until today. I drove to the store parked and nothing was left on. Came out it would not start. I got a jump nothing. Had a guy helping me his jumper box would register. Finally got it to register it starter and died again. The guy had a machine to check the battery he said it only had about 5 amps..I brought a b ew battery installed it now check engine light is on. I have tried the key trick.. no codes show up nothing shows up not even done. The check engine light wasn't on before the battery died. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know if the key trick works on a compass? Here's what I did.
From the off position I turned it on til just before it cranks...repeated the step 3 times..and nothing happened. I repeated those same steps 5 times still nothing. I believe I performed the trick correctly but I got nothing...HELP!

Hi nicowill,

If you decide to take your vehicle to your dealership to have the code assessed, please feel free to reach out if you need any additional assistance.

As you've replaced the battery if should be cranking over. But your post is unclear exactly what is happening now.

Rusted grounds and wiring on the drivers side harness has been a problem in many vehicles. Numerous threads on starting issues. But in my opinion you need a code reader. I haven't heard of the key sequence working in any newer vehicle maybe in some built in 2000 or earlier.
