Just purchased a 2014 Compass 2.4 auto. It's a winter vehicle when my C6 Corvette is in hibernation.
I have owned a Jeep in the past, but because the 3.7 was so hard on fuel, I let it go after 6 months.
It's not the gas mileage, but the small gas tank that made it impossible to drive long distances without always being stopped at a gas pump.

I'm happy so far with the Compass. The small gas tank will hopefully not be an issue, as this 2.4 should be much better on fuel than the 3.7 was.

I live in the Atlantic region of Canada. We get lot's of snow, so the 4x4 will come in handy.
I have new Firestone M+S tires on it now.

What do you all recommend for winter tires?

The Corvette forum is always buzzing with lot's of people online on that forum.
I'm hoping for a similar experience on this forum.

Glad to be part of the Jeep community.

hi, and welcome!

I also have a 2014 Compass 4x4, bought used last fall. I got a set of used steel 16" Patriot wheels and a new set of General Altimax Arctics, non-studded, in 225/70 r16 size. They were great in ice and snow. They do have minor tread noise. The Compass never seemed to be challenged at all by snow and had good control on icy roads.
Agreed about the 3.7. They are have reasonable torque and reliability but are inefficient and heavy (by modern standards).

Thanks for the welcome to the forum.
I have a set of 16" steel rims with Firestone Winterforce tires that I had for my previous winter vehicle, but they have a different bolt pattern than the Compass, so I can't use them.
I have those for sale in hopes of buying a set to fit the compass.
Thanks for the tire recommendation. I'll look into those as an option.

Welcome to the forums.

The General Altimax Artics are great. I personally have a lot of experience with the Michelin X-Ice and they're amazing winter tires. Budget friendly as well. Albeit I haven't used it on the Compass (almost ready to pull the trigger on a 17') but I have used it in FWD and RWD vehicles and they're great. Couple them with the 4x4 and I think you'll be just fine.
