Has anyone ever experienced a complete vehicle shut down while driving before?

I was pulling into a parking space this morning, and as I was turning sharply, the engine / vehicle electrical power shut off completely..
I had no dash lights and could not restart the vehicle.

The first thing I checked was the battery, but my terminals are very clean and tight (always on top of these things as an old 12v car electrician).
I had a multimeter with me and I'm getting the full 12.6v at every point in the engine including the fuse box.
I started to check fuses for Ignition and fuel pump, all of them were good...

Could this be an engine computer issue?
I have one of those K&N cold air intakes with the computer located on the top and the Harness wires are pretty snug from the Engine to the ECU.

after making sure all the wire harnesses were snug and fuses were good. I went back into the vehicle and I had power again...
I was able to start my car and park it properly.

Hi Robxstone,

Sorry to hear about this! If you decide to visit your local dealership I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know.

I'm thinking either terminal or one of the main fuses came loose or something. There's only certain things that can make a vehicle lose all power completely.

I had this happen with a Focus once, and the chip fell out of the broken key housing. I doubt that's your issue, but you might want to check. Another though popped into my head while reading this...Tap Start system.

Its not something you're going to fix. A defective or faulty version of TIPM is more likely but you need to take it to as dealer as already indicated. They likely already have a TSB on that symptom and will test and does as it indicates.

Best to just bring it into the dealership and have them look over your compass as soon as possible, maybe have JeepCares follow up for you. If it happened once it could happen again.

I think i might have figured it out, it might have been a really funky negative terminal connection. It had a lot of white powder on the inside, im sure it didn't make a solid connection. Wire brushed it and it's been good since... We'll wait and see i guess. Thanks for the input everyone
