Help! at end of patience. First the start stop had issues in the fall. I have noticed she doesn’t like to start smoothly sometimes in Winter or when temp changes a lot. This time she sat for 4 days as ai wasn’t working. Went out won’t start, full power, lights etc, won’t even try to turn over.. Tried to jump just in case, not issue. Now check throttle light is on. Can not turn her off and will not start. Dash reads it’s not in park...
anyone...

Jumping on this and hope someone can help. I bought my 2018 Jeep Compass in March 2019 as a new car. Everything was great until November, 2019 when the Stop/Start malfunctioned. The engine would turn off but it was as if the car locked up. The emergency break came on and nothing turned off for about 15 minutes and the message was "Car On". After 15 minutes it felt as though everything relaxed, all screens went black and I was able to start the car. Over the course of 3 weeks the car was in and out of the Service department where the battery was replaced, the cables replaced and another electronic component replaced. Once again the car worked great until 3 weeks ago. The same problem happened. Finally was seen in the Service Department on Thursday/Friday last week and I was told the issue was the oil was low. I paid for an oil change. Yesterday the same thing - this time I was in the ATM drive up line and blocked the line for 20 minutes before I was finally able to restart the car. I don't think this is an oil issue, has anyone else had this problem. I am going back to the Service Department tomorrow, but what should be done to finally fix this problem?

Thanks for any and all help.

Similar issue started 3 days ago. Tried to start, noticed the foot break was stuck and did not function normally. After trying to start, it reads Engine running, but it isn’t.
I got a screen message that reads, Service Break Switch, ran a error code scanner no errors were detected.
Today I got a new battery (according to the store it was drained) and the issue remains.

Any ideas?

I’m literally having this exact issue now. Was this solved? What did they do to fix it?

Hey all. I just wanted to throw this possibility at you because this has happened to me a few times. The last 3 times, I'm 99% sure it happened because I didn't press the brake down long enough when I pushed the start button. The engine almost started, but didn't, then everything else looked as though it had started. But, I couldn't turn everything off. The first 2 times it happened to me, I didn't realize that I may not have engaged the brake long enough. I walked back into work, went back out about 20 minutes later and it would turn off. Then I could start it normally. The last 3 times, I removed the battery from the key fob, waited about a minute, put the battery back in and I was able to shut it off then start the engine successfully. I asked about this at my Jeep dealer service center and they had no idea that this was happening and found no codes. So, at this point, I make an effort to push the brake in and hold a couple seconds while starting. The last time the problem actually occurred, I KNOW my foot slipped off the brake while pushing the start button and all this happened. W/in a couple minutes of removing the battery and reinserting, I was off and rolling down the road.

- and just to include this part - I figured the key fob might be the issue because when I went into my office, it's far enough away that my key fob would lose any connection.

Oh, and my advice to you would be to keep a small flat head screwdriver to help pry your key fob open.

Hi all, has anyone found a solution? I’m having a similar problem with my 2018 Compass Trailhawks. When I try to start, it clicks then all the electronics work like the car is started (dash lights up, seatbelt warning chimes) I can even switch into drive and change the 4 wheel drive traction control mode, but the engine isn’t running. It’s like the car thinks it’s on. Anyway, my car has been with the dealer for almost a week and $400 in diagnostic fees later, still no solution. I’ve done some research and did read that a few others solved a similar problem by replacing the auxiliary battery. Any thoughts or helpful experiences would be appreciated!
