I have a 2019 Jeep Compass Trail hawk with 48,500 miles on it. I had bought two new tires and the tech and shop indicated that I need new lug bolts because Jeep made them with two dissimilar metals and the heads are stripped.

A different shop where I purchased the tires indicated that they could get a replacement set that will not strip. I googled this issue and found that this is common for Jeep and Ford.

I also called the local Jeep dealer and talked to the parts department and the guy was unaware. I am dissatisfied that I had to incur this extra expense because Jeep does not address this and fix

Someone is feeding you a line. Wheel bolts and the hub are both steel. Perhaps they cross-threaded some and screwed (no pun intended) them up. In any case, a new set should be ~$50. Hopefully, the damage was to the bolts and not the hub.

I had the same issue with our Renegade, the chrome cap over steel degrades and a normal lug wrench then spins the cap but not the lug nut. Its a PITA. I got an aftermarket solid stainless steel set and replaced them all. Truly a crappy design from Jeep.
