mine is doing the same thing, my screen brightness is way too high and stays in day mode and when it’s dark out, the brightness has to be manually turned down on the screen to 1 or 2. however, the dashboard lights are still way too bright when driving at night. the night time brightness option won’t even allow me to modify any settings, it’s greyed out. also the buttons below my screen (hazards, ALM, traction control, and auto start) aren’t lit up at night. just wondering when and if this issue plans on getting fixed anytime soon!

With mine it won’t auto adjust during the day so I can barely see the screen. It works fine at night and when I turn off the engine the display does what it’s supposed to. Any suggestions on how to fix this.

Hi Walkertodd21 and jmorales1916,

In previous posts, we advised this is being reviewed by the internal teams. However, if you decide to have this inspected by your servicing dealer for further diagnosis, our team is available via private message for support.

Just a small update from me.. I took my 22 Compass into the dealership for an oil change and mentioned the cluster issue. They told me they’d look it. Gave me a loaner and over the course of 3 weeks, they replaced the cluster and some other parts.
Still not fixed and they told me I have to wait for something to come down the line from Stellantis. They also said more and more are coming into local dealerships in January with the same problem.

Today, my touch screen started to randomly display FIAT (instead of Jeep) and all of my theme color options are gone and different than what is available in a Compass. My display looks nothing like it used to and I can’t change it back, even after a reset.

The theme is now a white granite/marble instead of tire tracks and blue/gold accents all over. The option to change themes is gone. I think my car is a lemon.

Same issue here. Just started today. '22 Trailhawk, 19k miles. Ive tried the suggestions in this threads to no avail. I see this has been happening to people since August, so, 5-ish months... Not cool... I've owned 7 Jeep vehicles since '96 and this is the first one with so many glitchy, buggy, whatever you want to call it, problems. Especially for a tiny vehicle that cost 40k! Need less tech in these things. Might be the last one I buy if this isn't resolved soon.

Hi HDub17,

Engineering is aware and working to develop a fix for this symptom soon!

My 22 latitude lux with 19000 miles is also stuck in day time mode... Blinded by the screen driving at night... The buttons just below the screen for lane keep, auto start, hazard lights also not eliminating at this time.

I just went through this with my 2022 Limited a 15,600 miles, this past Friday (2/10/2023), which was beyond frustrating and nerve-wracking on the drive back home, as I was low on gas and couldn't see the fuel gauge or fuel range. The U connect screen was not viewable during the day and the option to change day brightness level was grayed out. I did a factory reset which did not work (it sucked redoing my preferences and presets). I ended up disconnecting the negative terminals on both batteries and and was only able to unplug the positive terminal on the starter battery; I could not seem to get the main battery positive terminal to clear the post as the cable was short and space was non-existent back there. Anyways, waited about 5 - 10 minutes and then reconnected everything. Now the screen seems to work and the day brightness level option was available. Don't know how to get it updated to the current UConnect version - possibly will have to go the dealership.

Can someone please help me. I have been having this exact issue as well. Toggle not working and screen is super bright. Won’t even allow me to change the daytime brightness in settings. The dealerships are saying i have to leave my car for 5-7 business days and they aren’t giving me a car to actually get around it is ridiculous. I just want this issue fixed and not have to miss work because of this. The truck is not even 1.5 years old

Hi blentz226,

We recognize the concern this causes! In previous posts on the thread, we advised Engineering is investigating a fix at this time. We are not aware of an exact time frame, but we'll be certain to provide any new updates on the fix as they're received.

Any idea when this will be fixed? Do I need to take it to the dealer for repair?
Hi Debbie2go,

At this time, an exact time frame is not available on the fix, but we continue to bring this to the internal teams attention for any available information they can provide. You are welcome to visit your dealer if you wish. We are happy to help escalate a case on your behalf if you decide to take your vehicle to service.

WHAT HAS BEEN DONE?? I have the same issue! IT MAKES NIGHT DRIVING IMPOSSIBLE. You should NOT be selling any more of these vehicles with this kind of issue going on. It's more than "inconvenience" Steph> have you tried driving at night with blinding brightness from the dash? I'll be going to my dealership tomorrow. They should not be selling these vehicles to anyone.

An update came out today for my 2022 Compass High Altitude and it fixed the issue for me. Now there is a white theme and a dark theme which wasn’t available before. They took away the ability to select from the 3 themes but it does look nice. Only thing is that the nab screen is always dark if you select the dark theme, regardless of day or night.

UPDATE: Nevermind, it only changed my nave screen to a dark theme but the brightness of the screen as well as the brightness of the digital gauge cluster remains super bright and the dimming control wheel on the dash still does nothing. Unbelievable, Jeep finally pushes and update and it does nothing to fix this, instead it removed the awesome themes and now my android device won’t connect at all either now. Unreal.

Hello Steph,

I recently got brand new JEEP COMPASS 2022 SPORT 4x4, and we are just moving here in Indiana. I am reading the forum trends here and found out that I am not the only one experiencing this issue with the Auto Day/Night sensor not working. My first concern is the android or iPhone Maps that is displaying at night mode even the vehicle is under the heat of the sun on my screen monitor. I cannot see the MAPS because it too dark, and we are new here in this place, and I need the GPS Maps to display on the screen monitor on daylight mode while the sun is up.

I tried adjusting the roller knobs next to my headlight switch, disconnecting the wires from the batteries, reset setting to factory default, and they are not working for me.

Thanks,
King
