People joining a car forum to complain about an issue. Probably to disappear once their problem is resolved. Having contributed zilch to the community.
The funny thing is, at least for me or I'm not getting sth right here...
Radio problem is not actually a car problem, it's more like a broken accessory. It should work I agree but I can't remember that 160 people joined to discuss car problem a real one not the musical, like when engine was burning through a quart of oil every 500 miles. Funny times for Jeepers indeed.
So what's next, we do the test drive of new vehicle with a MP3 thumb stick on a parking?
It is fully unprofessional and sloppy from Stellantis indeed for such a trivial issue they needed a full year, but come on, I won't return my vehicle if it's riding good, I'd get an AUX cable for a $2, bypass the radio and wait for the update. It's not Tesla.

OTA update can change the audio codec for more efficient one, less processing less heating... maybe it's that.
Or I'd look at the fuse box, maybe amperage is too high... dunno... thinking.. I'm an IT guy basically.
Or Jeep should simply announce a recall and replace whatever, even Uconnect.

I am an audio/electronics guy. I worked as a professional SE for years. Most heat protection on audio equipment is located on the power output heat sync and simply switches off the output. One minute it’s on, the next it’s off. I have never seen a configuration that slowly reduces output. Not saying it might not exist, but I’ve never seen it. On the other hand, it is common knowledge that silicone components are susceptible to accumulated heat and begin to break down at temps at or above 160 degree.
Based on the facts, I believe that the hardware must be modified to protect the electronics. No software will accomplish the protection needed.
ironically, the first person to report success on the “Radio” thread indicated the radio had to be operated at a higher setting to get comparable sound level. Seems like some s trying to control the heat by restricting how load you can play the radio. Yes software can do this…
Food for thought…
Hey, what do you think about this "patch" here:

EDIT: It's an idea only, fuse box is not the same.

You got to be kidding! There is no way a patch from a vehicle from 21 years ago will work on a 2022 Compass! The technology has changed!
There's still a fuse box as in any car. Nothing changed in that way.
Electrician could find the accurate scheme and maybe bypass the amp power supply like that.
It's not a space shuttle, but better don't try it yourself.

Call me a dreamer . . . but I bet it's coming.
Yep, in China or other states with full surveillance.
In this dream, we will end with 10mins only for a toilet break at gas stations or otherwise we are obstructing peace and order and the tide of enforced fees will start to accumulate in counties piggy banks endlessly. It's a nightmare not a dream, sorry. Another related comment for all these "automatic-autonomous" use of our cars hype - if you need autonomous ride, please sit in a bus or train, cars are to be driven. SUVs especially, off road means freedom of movement.

And it's for completely another topic, that car manufacturers today with too much computers and electronics are pushing drivers even a for simple DIY to be hackers not mechanics anymore.
