Whatever did we do before SatNav, eh? Or before blindspot monitoring.

Do they give out different licences for people who can't drive with prompts? (Like they do in the UK for people who cannot drive without an automatic gearbox.)
When I was a kid they used to have these origami things called roadmaps. It was kinda like the screen on a nav system or Garmin, except it was paper and you might have a whole state on it. Gas stations gave them out for free. The roadmap things didn't talk to you, though. We relied on Mother to do that.

Nev,
Everyone that is responding to this thread and the original thread ARE contributing to this community. The original thread had over 160 participants and 795 replies. This forum is about people sharing their experiences with their Jeep Compass. Good or bad! They come here for information and help with problems. All 160 posters wanted info on why their Radio's were not working and why Jeep cannot fix them even after almost a year. People are rightfully fed up with this situation. My Jeep is a Lemon. I'm not just labeling it that for no reason. Under my states Lemon Law my Compass qualifies as a Lemon. I am a Chrysler product loyalist supreme! I started driving in 1968 and every car I have owned has been a Chrysler product. Plymouths, Chryslers , Dodges and Jeeps. This 2022 Compass is my 4th Jeep. I never thought I would go through the kind of problem and treatment that I have had the last 10 months. I am not alone. Over 160 others have voiced the same concerns. I have had no choice but to file for arbitration under the Lemon law against Jeep. I am not alone. Others have already filed for arbitation or with lawyers for Lemon law suits. Also many of the people on the original thread are seeking info on how to file for arbitration. This forum is about helping people. And that's what we all are contributing. You may not like the fact that we are complaining about our Jeeps, but that is just the reality of it. Jeep needs to step up and do something. Yes, there is supposed to be a OTA fix for this that has already been rolled out but we have all heard that before. Hopefully the update will fix this problem, but for many of us the damage has already been done.
Amen, all of this is so frustrating and this forum is all I have for information

Many seem to confuse car forums (where people come together to share info, ideas and experiences to help each other out with their vehicles) with social media. (Where everyone likes to go to moan and dog-pile.)

This forum was made virtually unusable a few weeks back.

Massive thanks to mods for spending all that time to clear up the mess caused by some of the worst car forum posting manners I've seen in over 20 years.

Has anyone tried to reset by pressing and holding the volume and tune buttons? When I mentioned the radio fading problem to my sales rep at the dealership, that was what he suggested. I have no idea if this works because I've not had the problem in my 2019 Compass.
Works for about 5 minutes... Then the volume fade starts again and, after about a minute, the volume "has left the building".

A lot more participants on the following closed thread... Radio
There are 168 participants over there and that is a significant number of members on this site. Figure, too, that not all the members are driving 2022s. However, it is problems that drive people to owner sites like this. We get lovers and haters here. I'd like to see the proportion of lovers increase.

Agreed. But I'll be honest. I only registered to find out if others were experiencing the same issues. Having said that, based on what @AVigil and @Super Sooner 1974 have reported, it appears that there is indeed hope! Looking forward to the update rolling out to my Jeep (actually my wife's)!

That probably because according to latest update from JeepCares, the status of the R17.98 update is as follows:
For vehicles at the R17.98 software level, the launch is starting regionally within Stellantis North America Headquarters based in Michigan. From there, the national launch will follow in the upcoming weeks, but this timing is subject to change at any time for any reason.

I have read all of the almost 800 posts on the Radio forum ( pretty obvious there were many more posts that were filtered out, likely for redundancy ). By far, the significantly vast majority are 2022 owners. Yes a few are owners of older models or people with other problems, but the sheer number of those venturing on the forum to post the radio issue tells a huge tale that goes back almost a year.
Quit frankly, I never would have joined this forum, or any forum for that matter if I didn’t have the radio issue. And thank goodness there was some semblance of acknowledgement and communication of solution status here. The sad part is I didn’t get this from my local service dept.
OBTW, I’ve now joined the Ram Truck forum because I’m having different problems with my 2022 Bighorn.
In all my years buying new vehicles, I have never, I repeat never had one warranty issue until these 2 vehicles, both purchased this year. Makes one stop and ponder!

Interesting dshantanu reported getting the update in California in the Uconnect 5 - S26.17 Over-the-air Software Update
Uh, dshantanu had "Existing UConnect version: R17.99" Re-read the comment you replied to.

New symptom in addition to the volume fading issue... Now the infotainment system is stuck in night mode! Tried all the usual solutions, including a factory reset, and disconnecting the car battery for several hours. My wife is pretty upset as the screen is basically unreadable in daylight. I've looked on other threads, and this appears to be another UConnect software bug. I have very hopeful that the over-the-air update that is slowly being released nationwide will fix the problem. I guess we'll see. - Impatiently waiting

rgarica Is it possible that you or your wife rolled the dimming setting down next to the headlight controls? If not try to go into Display Settings and change to the light mode! We found that after getting the Update, Jeep made our screen default to the light mode, that is easier to read than the dark mode!

Nope... Good idea, but I checked that already.

By the way, you already received the update, correct? What part of the country are you in? Just curious as I'm wondering how long the wait might be for us here in Virginia...
