I was at my dealer a few days ago and talked to the service manager. I asked her if she had any customers with the volume problem that had received the OTA update. She said that she had not received any notice that the update was released. I told her it had been released and then withdrawn and just recently released again. She was not aware of any of this! The dealership has 4 customers with the problem who are waiting for a fix. Looks like Stelantis just cant seem to get their act together on this even a year later and is not communicating with the dealers about the problem.

Although I don't have the problem, I ran it by a sales rep at my dealers, and he didn't know anything about the problem. Maybe that's just the party line, or maybe they haven't sold that many '22s.

Not sure if this has been talked about in any of the previous pages or other feeds but I just drove for about 5 hours with no issues for the first time... I had turned off my climate control system completely as the temperature was pretty great for highly driving and that seem to have affected the volume issue in some way. I turned it back on when I got closer to my house and within about 30 min, the volume issue was back and fading as "normal". My heated seats/steering wheel function was on and did not effect it. Has anyone else tried this?

Nev,
Everyone that is responding to this thread and the original thread ARE contributing to this community. The original thread had over 160 participants and 795 replies. This forum is about people sharing their experiences with their Jeep Compass. Good or bad! They come here for information and help with problems. All 160 posters wanted info on why their Radio's were not working and why Jeep cannot fix them even after almost a year. People are rightfully fed up with this situation. My Jeep is a Lemon. I'm not just labeling it that for no reason. Under my states Lemon Law my Compass qualifies as a Lemon. I am a Chrysler product loyalist supreme! I started driving in 1968 and every car I have owned has been a Chrysler product. Plymouths, Chryslers , Dodges and Jeeps. This 2022 Compass is my 4th Jeep. I never thought I would go through the kind of problem and treatment that I have had the last 10 months. I am not alone. Over 160 others have voiced the same concerns. I have had no choice but to file for arbitration under the Lemon law against Jeep. I am not alone. Others have already filed for arbitation or with lawyers for Lemon law suits. Also many of the people on the original thread are seeking info on how to file for arbitration. This forum is about helping people. And that's what we all are contributing. You may not like the fact that we are complaining about our Jeeps, but that is just the reality of it. Jeep needs to step up and do something. Yes, there is supposed to be a OTA fix for this that has already been rolled out but we have all heard that before. Hopefully the update will fix this problem, but for many of us the damage has already been done.

Ill ditto that....the damage has already been done. Ive been close to a couple of accidents when my system went black and when the volume disappeared while using the navigation system. Im considering arbitration as well. They received their money from my bank monthly payments yet Im not receiving a repair of a faulty system in a 50.000.00 vehicle.

Hi mikes,
not sure I understand the difference. Shouldn’t we all be going to the same Rev? The latest and greatest?
Jeep needs to clarify!!!!
This issue isn't about what version everyone is going to but rather it's about what version everyone is coming from. The versions that everyone is having issues with are 17.98 and 17.99. Each version requires a different update to fix the problems. One update has been released, the other is being rolled out in a limited area (most likely for testing purposes).

. The following is a list of those ongoing problems that are unsafe for drivers and passengers in the car:
  • Repeat failure of the Front Crash Avoidance System by suddenly turning off the adaptive cruise control required pulling the car over on the side of the road to reset the system.
  • Multiple notices to the car owner about an Airbag Recall on the Jeep Compass were distributed but two different Oklahoma Jeep dealers had not heard of the recall. They had nothing about it on the Jeep website or at their dealership.
  • The Jeep App does not keep in sync the mileage revealed on the car screen with that of the cell phone hooked up to the car for navigating. One might say 65 miles to empty, and the other say 250 miles to empty.
  • 95-100% of trips in this Jeep Compass result in the volume of the stereo gradually going silent and other dash settings malfunction or turn off
  • In case the car is involved in a wreck, the Audio Assistance will not work.
  • TomTom, Waze, and Google Maps will not work safely unless the sound is audible.
  • Hands-free calls are not possible with this defective sound system so laws are broken and lives endangered. When people hold their phones in their hands to make/take phone calls while driving, their lives are at risk.
  • Another disappointment is Jeep dealerships and/or customer service that do not always return calls from customers.
  • Repeat problems and little to no help from some of the Jeep headquarters and Oklahoma dealerships contacted are not acceptable.
  • People in cold climates with car heaters on are experiencing trouble keeping their radio volume audible. Within 10 minutes to two hours of the radio being on, it goes silent. The system has to be re-started.
  • Claims have already been filed with a Nationwide Lemon Law Group for class action against FCA to stop marketing seriously defective new automobiles.
  • The new computer updates for the Jeep Compass cars have been postponed from December 2022 to March of 2023, by the corporate owners, FCA.
NOTE: These Jeep Compass technical problems have happened to car owners across

the U.S. since the 2022 car was released.
Yes, my wife and I have been going through it as well with ours! The jeep dealership in Princeton WV, said they would work with us on it but we have gotten nowhere! below is a list of things we experience with ours.
1: after about 30+ minutes of driving the sounds goes away! I have recorded this with the phone and presented to the dealership! I have also on another occasion actually drove the vehicle to the dealership and presented it to the sales manager as well as the person who sold us the vehicle! NO FIX! They told me to set up an appointment with them so they could look at the issue and of course it was not doing it the day they had it! the shop manager even drove it to his house and back the next day with same result he didn't notice it.

2: my wife was driving it to work a few times and the advanced forward collision warning system just cut off no reason! stayed off until she got home and turned the car of and back on again the next day! mentioned this to the dealership, they acted like they cared but really nothing got done so for me actions speak louder than words! and nothing was done so... I told them my wife doesn't feel safe in the vehicle. and I said what if this stuff cuts off or doesn't alert and a crash happens, or people die in an accident! still the same ole same ole !!! we care we want to take care of you type of stuff! but nothing gets done!

3: The dealership provides me with a number to call Chrysler support. I call them and open a case for the car, and they informed me that i would hear something in 72 hours !! never heard anything it was near a holiday, so I let it go for a couple of days in case that was the issue! NOTHING! i called back they opened a new case for the vehicle as they said the other case had been accidentally deleted!!!! I'm like HOW!!! I mean really! anyways they open a new case and I tell the lady how many times this has happened, and the car had less than 3k miles on it and it had been happening since we owned it and the dealership had looked at it a few times and found nothing as the intermittent issue was not displaying itself when being looked at. She proceeds to apologize and open a new ticket and assures me that she will make sure they see this asap and to expect a response within 72 hours! I told her that my wife did not feel safe in the vehicle, and we would like a buy back option! she said totally understandable, and we would NOT want your wife to have to drive a vehicle she did not feel safe in.

yada, yada, yada, a few weeks went by, and my wife got a call, and they told her they were closing her ticket as there was an over the air update due to be released soon!

So, the car now has over 6k miles on it and is still not fixed and we have no resolution to the problem!

Oh, we were constantly getting message from the car to service headlights with less than 1k miles on it! made an appointment and they of course couldn't find anything! The bright light auto bright feature was buggy also!

I would like a buy back option from jeep! I am a repeat customer and feel we should be treated fare better regarding this situation! I have owned a
(NEW) 2018 Jeep renegade $35k spent with tons of issues with Oil consumption problems using over 2 Quarts of oil every 3k miles absolutely ridicules! So, i traded and purchased.
a NEW 2021 Jeep Rubicon and still have it with only minor issues reported.

The current Jeep is the 2023 jeep compass limited edition 45k purchase price with a crap experience with all the issues! so JEEP please offer a buyback for what is obviously. A flawed product!

Here is the first example of the same problems on a 2023. So I guess after having these issues during the whole 2022 model run, Jeep has decided to let it continue on
for the 2023's UNBELIEVABLE !!

Sorry to hear you are having the same problems on your 2023 that the rest of us are having on our 2022's. Some of the 2022 owners have been fighting these problems for a year now.
A fix is supposed to be coming, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

According to JeepCares this is the status of the R17.98 update:

To me this sounds like they have started the update in a limited region to test it's effectiveness, if the update is successful it will be released nationally in the near future. If it's not successful it will once again be delayed, hence the "but this timing is subject to change at any time for any reason".

Let hope it's successful and everyone gets the update soon.

can you check with the powers to be? I have yet to see anyone post about an update to 17.98.
This is getting really frustrating!

I was informed yesterday 2/14/23 by my Uconnect case manager that Software update for those like me with version R17.98 would be released today 2/15/23. My Uconnect case is still open because when he notified me my case would be closed, I told him that is premature, and case should remain open until the defect is actually fixed. He agreed to keep my case open. He also stated it was rolling out on a regional basis and can take 2-3 weeks to reach my vehicle. I will post again on this thread and the thread for those actually receiving update when I receive the update.

This forum is not owned nor operated by Jeep, I have absolutely no contact with "the powers that be" at Jeep. The only official Jeep representative on this forum is @JeepCares.

Hey KCM where are you at with filing arbitration? Have they set a hearing date yet?

Heat and electronics are enemies. Presuming the problem is heat related, it's possible that it can be solved by the software bypassing the overheated part or in some other way relieving the stress on that part.

I was skeptical that a software patch could solve the oil consumption problem that dominated this site back in 2018-2019. It seemed like a mechanical problem to me. However, it worked by changing the valve timing so oil wasn't sucked into places it shouldn't go. Obviously Alpine has been making automotive electronics for years and this is a new problem. These new systems do more than just play the radio, they're running lots of other unrelated functions as well. A properly designed/corrected program could indeed solve the problem. Some have already reported success. Hopefully others will too.

Now lets start on the voice recognition software! I tell my phone to "Call home," the system asks, "Do you want to call towing?" I don't want to get blamed for a nuisance call, so I changed my phone entry to "House" and it seems to get that right.

Then I ask it to call my Sister. Her name apparently sounds like "towing" or "police" to the system (go figure). So I try to speak slowly and over-enunciate and it gives me a choice of two other people whose last names are similar to Her first name. So I changed my phone entry to "Sister." Now the system asks, "Do you want to call towing assistance?" Aaurgh!
