Hello everyone,

I noticed the compass does not offer a home link setup. I was going to add a gentex Unit yet I am unsure if this is possible. I don’t see any wiring for my auto dimming mirror so I assume it would be in the actual ball socket.

Can anyone assist?

Thanks

I was just discussing this with my wife (since I seem to have lost one of our remotes years ago and my 200 had Homelink)... Think I'm going the easy route and buying a programmable remote, but I'm interested in what you find out!

I haven’t been able to see any wiring on the current auto dim mirror. Yet I am going to remove the plastic surround and see what’s behind. Will keep this updated.

So I did a little bit more of an investigation on the mirror. It seems that the connector is a 12 pin. But the biggest issue is the fact of that the mirror arm to the windshield is about 6 inches long. I am going to see if I can do a little bit of investigation to see if there’s a direct replacement that will fit this mirror and set up with home link and auto dimming see images below.

I did the install not long after I purchased the vehicle. I used power from the map light, as it is actually 12 volts, and not the CANBUS 3-5 volts, like my 16 had. I am at work now, once I am home I will repost the pics (maybe you can try a search, it might be found from my post from last year).
I also mounted it forward of the map lights. It is a bit snug, but with some finesse, it will fit.
I used the generic 3 button Homelink.

Here is a quick view from my older post. Much like what Musclze did, just with a different style of Homelink . It is a tight squeeze, but it will fit. I also had to add a shim to each button, to make the buttons function, being the plastic is thicker than the visor, it usually resides at.

12 volts is fed from the map light pigtail.
