Today I purchased a new air filter as my Jeep now has 12,000 miles. I got home from shopping, and had a notice from my dealer reminding me to get my oil changed (which I planned to do this week) and they also recommend changing not only the air filter but the Cabin Air Filter.

I planned to put the new air filter in myself, and would also like to put in the Cabin Air filter if necessary. Any idea where it's located?

By the way, the last time I changed my oil, I bought a package from the dealer, where I paid $59.99 for a year's (4) oil changes.

the cabin air filter is behind the glove box.
1. Open glove box
2. Hard but not too hard to break, squeeze the side of the boxto the inside to get the stops past the dashboard frame.
3. Look straight in there should b a slot with a cover onit w/ instructions on how to open it.
4. U may not have 1 in there (mine didnt and hav heard of others that didnt come w/ 1)
5. Install filter
6. Put back together in reverse order.

I hope that wasn't your first oil change. 12,000 miles hmm

How does your dealer know how much you've driven. I get calls now and then as well. It just to get you to come in for service. When I change mine I write the odometer reading on a blank page near the rear section of the manual and the date done. I am doing it at about 5k or in miles about 4000 which is as far as I will push it knowingly. If you plan to keep the vehicle. Frequent oil changes are the cheapest maintenance you can do to keep your engine in good shape. A good oil filter as well does not hurt. I use Wix filters.
