Hi everyone. I was having problems with me remote start(fob). It was driving me nuts. I spent yrs looking into this. Stealer was no help. Finally I was able to stumble on this. Above driver side wheel wheel well there is the wiring harness, relays.

some may know this. But I didn’t. I am glad I checked. Bc I don’t want a headache. So here is what I found.

i headed out to advance to get new (relay) but no luck. I sprayed everything with connector cleaner, dialect lube on the relays. So far so good. I don’t drove it a lot in summer Bc I have my bike. But, anyways I could feel/see the moisture where the relay cap is.

do yourself a favor and just look. Many of you may know this. I didn’t! I am just posting FYI. I am adding url just in case things need to fixed. Thank. Btw, I have 14 latitude with 2.4, 52xxx mi.

Hi, great video, I had this problem on my 2010 Compass. Now I have a new problem. My remote fobs don't work unless ignition is on but engine not running. Started as an intermittent issue, now solid. I think the issue is I only have 0.6-0.8 volts on pin 5 of the WIN (with ring around the ignttion. It seems to connect to fuse F17 in the TIPM. I have 12V on each side of that. It seems that feed goes through connector C201, but I can't find where that connector is located ??

take the left front tire off. remove the pins, screws for the fender well. not all of them. The relay housing is more up front ,up under the wheel well. its in a housing like. have to unscrew the hosing from bracket. I think its 8-10mm socket. Not hard to get to. Just a p.i.a. its not listed in repair manuals or anything. I just happened to stumble on it.

Thanks, I've had that out and rebuilt it. Had it at the dealer last week, they found the main relay had a slight bit of corrosion on one of the coil pins right were it enters the relay, but I realy doubt the corrosion was inside the relay. I haven;t opened it yet. Charged me $75 for the relay that I can buy on Amazon for $25.. and 2hrs labor to find that and replace the terminal connector on the starter wire. I found my issue. no 12v going to WIN module-pin 5. I can apply 12v to it, and fobs work. I have 12v at the TIPM F12, C8-13, but C201-1 has no 12v. I think an animal has chewed the wire behind the fender or along the way. A summer job.. :)

They should actually have had a recall on these... SO many people having this problem that could be a safety issue if the vehical dies suddenly on the highway.

I'm in the process of repairing the corrosion issue in my son's relay box. Aside from plenty of dielectric grease, I will be putting 2 coats of rubberized undercoating on the entire box d as far up the wire run as I can. I suggest the undercoating to everyone who has to suffer through this job. You'll only want to do it ONCE.

Suppose you need to get into it? I was thinking about using cold shrink take.
