I just finished installing a Pioneer AVH-X2800BS into my 2015 Compass North Edition. I hate paying for the 'adapter' wiring harnesses so I did it without. The worst part of it was getting the reverse camera video feed working correctly. Steering wheel controls will come later and I know I'll need to purchase an adapter for that.

I spent weeks searching the forums and the general Internet for the info required to do this butI didn't find anything that was 100% bang on. I'd be happy to share the wire color mappings and my experience if anyone needs them.

I asked at the dealer for my wife's Compass to swap out the stock radio for the version with nav. $1500 for just the radio! I was just telling her we should get aftermarket. Did it fit in pretty decent?

No, It did not fit in without some modifications. I had to cut out the factory mounting bracket with a Dremel tool. Not for the faint at heart LOL
After market NAV systems are pricey as well.
I hear ya about the dealer 'rip offs' .
I went to the dealer I bought my car from and asked for a wiring diagram for the AV/Radio system and they said they wound get back to me. That was 2 weeks ago and haven't heard from them.

I was asked a question about how I retained the factory backup camera but I was not able to reply to the private message..

I grabbed a video RCA connector and cut off one end. The inside conductor of the RCA connected to grey/light blue and the outside (shielding) connected to grey/orange. I soldered the connections for reliability. For the reverse power signal required by the head unit, I tapped into the white/green wire behind passenger kick panel.

Still working on this only because I?m trying to figure out my best option for connecting the wires. Did you solder because it gives the best connection? I wanted to try crimping but the wires in the rca cable seem to be too small.

I ended up soldering the connections according to what you said but Im not getting any video whatsoever. We taped it up but is the bare metal wire supposed to have a purpose in this? My dad thought it was supposed to be some sort of power wire. We are kinda stuck about what we should do now.

Did you remember to tap into the reverse light power cable?
For the reverse power signal required by the head unit, I tapped into the white/green wire behind passenger kick panel.
When I was troubleshooting this myself, I had the luxury of using a small TV with an RCA input to make sure the cable was working before worrying about the reverse power signal.

Initially we were thinking the harness we bought did something like that already so we did not do that. I enlisted the help of my dad who has been installing car stereos for years but newer radios have him stumped. What exactly did you connect the white/ green wire to? Did you use a t tap?

So I finally got around to trying to solve this, I ran a power wire from the purple/white to the green/white and still nothing I?m not sure what I?m doing wrong.

Hi Olivia, sorry you're having a rough go with this. I did as well :(
All I can offer now is some troubleshooting steps.

1. Make sure the head unit is configured correctly for the rear cam input.I had to read the manual for mine.
2. Confirm that the camera wiring is working. I sent an email out at work asking to borrow a small TV that had an RCA input and got my hands on a 13" unit that was used for a kids gaming console.
In my Compass the camera is on while the vehicle is powered up and this allowed me to troubleshoot the RCA splicing.
3. Get a volt meter and make sure the white/green wire in the passenger kick panel is giving you a voltage while the car is on and in reverse - I believe it's +12V. When put back in park there should be no voltage.

paid a local auto audio place to do the install - well worth the $$$ paid to have it done imo

but knowing your setup intimately has something to be said for it too - good luck!
