I was wondering from only having owned and diy'd on bmw's im not sure how this works on jeep's (my wife's car) from looking into engine bay I saw coolant res has a "Hot level".

1. Which in my opinion means it should be at this level when car is at normal temp correct?

2. What brand coolant do you guys use, And what color is OEM coolant? (making sure mine is correct color)

Information is much appreciated, I saw no information on forum about this so im sure it will be helpful for others also. :wigglesmiley:

No I would not say that. HOT when fluid had been ejected due to high engine temperature. I would not add to it. Check the manual. I don't have mine here its in the car and the fluid is not the green glychol type. I believe its HOAT organic that Jeep uses. My Grand Cherokee uses HOAT. I haven't needed to buy any for the Compass.

Edit:
I just looked at my Compass. There is an ADD line there and if the fluid drops to that line you can add some but not above the Full/hot mark.

Your reply is much appreciated, I will just go to dealer to get some coolant fluid just to be safe and check out where its at when engine is warm vs the add line. I noticed this forum is still pretty inactive because of this car still being newish. Hopefully it will pick up with time.
