If it's not a dent, try a color match wax. Do NOT use color blend wax. Color blend just erodes the paint around it to temporarily fill in the scratch. Repeated use creates a thin spot.

That kind of light damage would have people reaching for the T-Cut in the UK.

This is a cutting/rubbing/polish compound.

Not sure what is the equivalent US product.

That is what I was warning AGAINST in post #3 above. Compounds, or similar products by any other name, rob from the surrounding paint to fill the scratches. Nothing other than new paint will solve the problem permanently. Compounds are the kind of thing you only use when you're going to sell it and never see it again. Colored wax can be used over and over again.
