I recently bought a brand new 2.4L 4X2 Compass. I am having some doubts regarding how the electric fans work/should work. Does anyone know at what temperature should the electric fans start to work? Are there 2 different speeds depending on the temperature? How does the car determine when the fan has to stop? Is it only based on temperature or is it also based on time? What temperatures are the ones activating the fans, is it only the refrigerant fluid or does the transmission temperature also make the fans start? Sorry for so many questions all together... I love my new Compass, but since it provides a lot of real time data around temperatures I am very interested in checking that everything is working as expected. I have found 2 or 3 times the fans working at very high speeds with the refrigerant fluid temperature at normal figures.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Fans turn on at "X" temp and turn off at "Y" temp, time is irrelevant. Also its not refrigerant fluid its coolant

well I have had some fan issues as well....somedays the fan kicks in Normally ,,,I have a 2019 compass,,,2.4
and somedays the temp gauge goes up 230 degrees and the fan doesn't spin at all and other days seems to function normally ….had it back to the dealer for this and just got home today and its doing it again . I have been told that the 2019 model doesn't have a 1 or 2 speed fan and fan operation is variable based on temp humidity and so on . but still cant see running the coolant at 217 degree with the fan not spinning at all in traffic..in My opinion this will fry the aluminum heads ????? even the service manager at the dealership said hes communicated with Chryslers engineers and they are saying this is normal .,...so they returned the vehicle to me ….guess I will drive it now and see if it blows an engine or something else ,,,since they are unwilling to correct the problem
