When driving down the road the ETC light will come on, the check engine light comes on and it looses power. You can shut it off and let it sit and it runs fine when you start it back up. The check engine light will stay on for a while then eventually go off. We had the codes ran it said misfire cylinder 1, oil pressure sensor, and camshaft position sensor. We replaced plug 1, changed the oil, and camshaft position sensor and it’s still doing it. Just had a fuel pump put in and thermostat housing replaced. Have sank a good bit of money into it. I’m currently off work due to foot surgery and my wife is having to drive it a hour to work every day. Can’t keep throwing money at it. Anybody ever have this problem and if so how did you fix it? Thank you in advance.

self repair or shop or dealer?

year of Compass?

in general if taking it to a shop or dealer and based on the codes - they should diagnose further and hopefully pop you a discount since the problem was not solved.

that said - if self repairing - you might want to consider at some point biting the bullet and finding either an experienced Jeep mechanic at a shop or hit up the dealer - depending on what searches and codes find sometimes you just cant replace experience.

example - I had a check engine light go on for my old sedan - it was an old car - turned out one hose assembly had split - wasn't blowing a hole it was SPLIT so when it is in place you don't see the problem - shop called me and said they had great news no $500 repair needed just a $25 hose - love that shop! but I would not have known the issue unless I was tearing it all apart.
