does anyone know the size of a floor jack sufficient enough to lift a 2007 jeep compass sport 4x4? it says it weighs something like 3,675lb's...so i figured a 2 ton jack would do it, but it didnt work, the saftey relief port engaged and kept it from lifting...so next i tried a 2.5 ton floor jack and it STILL didnt work, same thing happened...im soo confused on what to do...anyone have any suggestions? and does anyone know anything about bottle jacks? they are cheap, but i dont know anything about them

I don't prefer the bottle jacks myself, but I use a 2 ton Mack floor jack, and have used it to lift a 1 ton flatbed truck. The jack didn't really like it much haha, but we made it with a little extra heave ho so to speak, so I don't see why it wouldn't work on the Compass. Sure beats the scissor jack IMO. Just get it where ya' need it and put it on a good set of jackstands.....:)

Evenflow, I'd say either the jacks you were using werent working correctly, or you were doing something incorrectly, either one of those shouldve worked.

Ok, I was betting against operator error, lol, but chances are, something is just wrong with the jack. Have you had any luck with this?
