I have 2014 Jeep Compass. Brakes started making noise going in reverse at 3500 miles. I dont know how to classify noise-but it can be heard 3 houses down and i can hear brakes inside my house when my daughter backs out. Been to dealer 7 times. Got Jeep Resolution involved. Bottom line: Compass need ceramic pads and Jeep Resolution refuses to pay for them since they will be aftermarket. Jeep resolution will not even listen to my video/audio. I cant email them, I cant speak with technician. Part of problem is service manager keeps referring to noise as little squeak. I asked service manager to quit doing that. He listened to audio as well. Looking for some advice in dealing with Jeep to get them to pay for ceramic brakes. Thank you in Advance. I have audio/video but it wont let me attached.

Yup, my rear breaks started squeaking when backing up around 3000 miles too. Usually when it was cold outside. It took another 2000 miles of brake wear for the noise to stop.

Just like the engine needs a brake in period, so do the brakes.

For the record my 2014 "squeaks" when backing up also. This started after approximately 2,000 miles and is quite embarrassing. I just figured it's the bean counters in design being cheap and using inferior materials. It's usually due to rust forming on the disk after the vehicle sits for a bit.

Had the same problem and the dealer told me to replace the rotors. I went to an auto shop and they just cleaned the brakes and luckily no more squeaking.
