Our 2020 Jeep Compass Trailhawk gas tank is only 13.5 gals. I am finding myself going to the gas station more often.

My son-in-law from the mainland is visiting us here on the Big Island of Hawaii. We are letting him use our Jeep Compass. Even he mentions “Wow” we gotta fill up gas very often. He is very disappointed how small the gas tank is.

I hope the Jeep corporation we see this forum? And make adjustments for a larger gas tank.

I like the Jeep Compass , but until they put the Turbo in a Compass Trailhawk and increase the gas tank size? Mostly like I will never but a Jeep Compass again! And we live on a island.

What is your thoughts about the gas tank size?

The tank is small, but I can drive about the same distance on a tank as I can in my Dodge Grand Caravan that has a 20 gallan tank, so it doesn't bother me.

If you want a Compass with a turbo, check out the 2023 models, the U.S. models all come with a 2.0L turbo.

When you drill down to the mechanical specs it lists the Turbo and 8 speed on the Trailhawk for 2023.
And yes the fuel tank is on the small size. I would love to have it 2 or more gallons bigger.

Going to fill gas more often is a “pain in the ?”.. We have to make plans to stop for gas. Our 2001 Toyota Camry had a 18.5 gas tank and we fill up every other week. And got better mileage too!
I find my self going once or twice a week to fill up gas.
Burning more gas just to fill up .

There are many ways to reduce weight in any vehicle. Every hundred lbs of less is approx 3% savings in gas.
Jeep Compass could have gone to a 16 gallon tank? Adding 2.5 gals more. 2.5 x 8 lbs (approx)= 16 lbs of added weight.

I do not want to carry extra gas cans (must be mounted outside). Unless overlandings

Wouldn’ be nice to go up to 500 miles before needing a fill up? Sure it will cost more at the pump.

I agree. I just took a road trip and a route that I'd have to fill up 1 time for at had to fill up 3 times in the Compass. The gas mileage isn't THAT much better than the truck.

Thank you for sharing your story about having to fill up 3-times vs just once.

We really like the our Jeep Compass Trailhawk, but next time I will buy another vehicle with a bigger gas tank and better mileage. We need the ground clearance and a good 4x4 system because of where we live.
Subaru’s offer 16.9 to 18.5 gals. Plus the wilderness pkgs offer more ground clearance.
