WOW! So she was ordered in August, originally due in December and finally picked up yesterday. My Wrangler left home last week too and is already up for sale here at the dealer who bought it, Humphries and Parks @ Maidstone.

I'll admit to butterflies all week; have I done the right thing? Am I really going from a 3.6 to a 1.3? Are all the reviews right and it isn't actually that good?

Drove back from the dealer and then off on a family "retail therapy" trip yesterday, then some running around for sports clubs, etc. today and almost through the first tank of fuel and on her second charge. I've thrown some pics in the mix below. She looks great and so far I am very pleased with my choice - good road manners, performance seems to be there if needed (although a little loud when you hit the Go! pedal) and the toys are all present and correct. My only bugbear is the number of pings, bings and alarms I get while driving - have to read the instructions to turn some of those off or down.

How come you don't have the bright blue Trailhawk moniker on the bonnet decal??

The Trailhawks on the website during build and config) had a dark logo, but unsure they had seen any in that colour and the sales guy was pretty sure that it would be bright blue for the Trailhawk bit.....then it arrived.

Was tempted by the black roof, but unsure. Can get it wrapped (for less) if I really want it later

Bugbear was the tow pack and rock rails. Both available from the US website build and config. Tow pack cannot be fitted here, as the hitch is non EU conformant, so would have to have a removable (clearance lowering) after market. The rock rails were under half the price on the US website. My understanding is all Compass are built in Italy anyway, so why I cannot get the same options as our American friends is annoying.

the compass has a LOT of bells and whistles - you'll figure them out or get used to them over time. enjoy!

Ah so on the configurator the blue and blue-with-black-roof versions do seem to have black decals!

Must be that Italian colour compatibility thing. (Some Alfas only allowed certain combinations of interior colour vs paint colour.)


The US tow receiver always looks like a good option with all the additional attachment you can add. But as you say, "illegal" for Europe .

And no front recovery hooks either !!! 😡

Maybe you are confusing the Compass with the Renegade. The Compasses for the North American market are made in Mexico.

Both Compass and Renegade for (at least) the European markets are built in Italy, as far as I am aware. This platform also forms the basis for the Fiat 500x, Alfa Tonale, etc. with various options or configuration changes atop. Jeep have tuned their version for off road capability.

A little Google tells me the following:
The Compass is assembled at plants in Italy, Mexico, Brazil, China, and India. North American and European models are manufactured in Melfi, Italy (designation: BU/520) and Toluca, Mexico (designation: MP/522); moved from Belvidere, Illinois.

There also looks to be different warranty periods / mileage for European vs American marketed cars, which may be something to do with local laws. I can upgrade mine to 4 years OR 100,000 miles, or 5 years OR 125,000 miles for a fee over and above the standard 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty. Seems an odd jump from 36.000 to 100,000, but that's what I have been told it covers.

Nev is spot on. BUT I do have to say, Jeep are a little lazy with their conversions. On the Compass, the heated steering wheel controls are on the passenger side of the touch screen (what I have found so far). On my Wrangler, the freedom roof panels came out passenger side first (this would be drivers side in the US) and the rear windscreen wiper motor blocked the drivers vision (would have been the passenger side in the US).

That was a misconception of mine caused by a dealer statement. As above, a quick Google cleared that up and ratified your view.

Does the RHD have a driver's left foot rest? Famously the Alfa Giulietta didn't and it was bloody uncomfortable.

Just for you, Nev

So, there is a left foot rest, but the whole space, including knee space, is a little on the cramped side. Not uncomfortable, but just feels tight. Love the fact they didn't even put a cover on the OBD port and at least I know know where the bonnet release is
