I’m trying to get some ideas here for headlight/fog light bulb replacements.. hid, led or upgraded halogen? I’m leaning more towards LED but how is the CAN-BUS in the jeeps and any problems when installing?
I bought CREE LED bulbs that are compatible with the CANBUS system on these vehicles from Summit Racing. These have cooling fans on the back for the circuitry. The high beam bulb backing interferes with the back of the housing and cannot be installed. There is insufficient clearance between the housing itself and the inner frame to get enough physical strength to lock the bulb in place on the low beam. I was mad and frozen enough by then that I never got to installing the fogs, but those will be the "easy" ones being that they're in the bumper with a lot of room.

I've been wanting to figure out how to get the headlight assemblies out of the vehicle so that I can do this job "on the bench" but so far there is literally zero info out there on removing them.

Sucks there is nothing out there on These jeeps yet I hear you can reach the headlight bulbs from the inner fender just like the fog lights I’m just stuck on what to do in the spring time it’s too cold to do it right now in Michigan

Hi there, if you are looking for better light output without hassle and absolutely without any mods, I'd recommend looking into quality halogen bulbs. As a good option I recommend Sylvania Silverstars.
If you want to go further, and completely upgrade the lighting, I'd recommend installation of LED bulbs. They do not require any any major modifications and are just plug-and-play. If you decide to do so, make sure the LED conversion kit says it is CAN-bus compatible and features a built-in load resistor. That's something you must have in the kit to avoid 'bulb out' errors. LEDs focus way better than HIDs, and do not require any mods of the headlight itself. Here is the link to the LED kit we recommend for the 2017 Compass.

You need to clarify wich version of the 2017 Compass you're referring to. Both the old and current model existed for 2017.

Do you have a link for these? Does the 2018 use an H11 bulb?

I bought mine at Summit Racing, which is just up the road from my house. With that, I cannot recommend the CREE bulbs because the high beams would not clear the opening of the housing, and the low beams clearance is so tight, I cannot twist the bulb into the socket to lock it. I recommend looking for another style of H11's that are Cannbus compatible that don't have a monster heat sink and fan. Yes, the 2018's use H11's for the fogs and low beams.

In my Compass 2018, I am using Philips 9011 HIRs which are the same 65W as OEM, but have a higher lumen output at 2350 Lumens instead of the stock 1800 of the Sylvania LL 9005 which were stock. HIR bulbs are identical in size and fitment (only the top tab needs to be trimmed by 2-3 mm). The light improvement is around 50% and the beam focus remains perfect as the LCL is the exact same as the 9005s.
