I should have been named "lovedmy97grandcherokee" because that is the correct year model that I had. I loved that Jeep. I truly named it my baby. I hated the day I had to trade it in after ten years of great driving and adventure. I could not afford to get a new transmission plus all the cosmetic work it needed. It was my first car. I traded it for a 2007 Chevy Impala. i had to get used to sitting low in a car again. So I was excited when the salesman tried to put me in the Jeep Compass. Little did I know what a trap I had stepped into.

Anywho... Hello to you all. I am glad I found this forum because I have to share my story. I just bought a 2011 Compass 4x2 on May 24 with 13 miles on it. My job is 4.5 miles from my house one way. My mother lives maybe 5 or 6 miles away (one way) and everywhere I shop is within 5 miles one way. I work three days a week only and I don't go out much. Before two weeks was up, my miles had accumulated to over 300. Today makes 19 days that I have had the car and it is already at 560 miles. I traveled three times - two 40 mile trips and one 100 mile trip. I went to work two weekends plus today which makes seven 9-mile trips. I should technically have only about 350 miles on my car. To make matters worse, I have had to fill up the tank three times already within these two weeks. This is all new to me. I have never had such bad gas mileage. I called the dealership to share this news and the service manager had nothing to say except to keep a record of my travels. Duh?!? Do I sound crazy? I can't afford this car much less $40 to fill up the tank every three to four days. I feel I have been duped. I have to travel down south in a few days and I think I am going to take advantage of my free service contract. My neighbor suggest I switch to 89 octane instead of 87 to get better mileage out of the 4 cylinder engine. Anybody please offer advice!!! Thanks!

Well fist, welcome to the forum, glad to have you! Really sorry to hear about your problem and while I'm not sure what's going on, something is definitely not right, especially if you're getting 3 gallons to the mile and you still being under warranty. I would be taking it back in and let them have a look at it to see. What I wonder is how low you actually are on fuel or if something with the gauge/DTE in the EVIC is not reading something right. Good luck though and be sure to keep us posted!
