Hi all. Hopefully an easy one for the brain trust. I am replacing the front drivers side CV axle in my 2010 jeep compass 4wd sport. When i pulled the cv axel out, it leaked a brownish fluid. I cant seem to find a definitive answer as to whether this is cvt transmission fluid or if its just standard diff fluid that I can replace myself. Any thoughts?

No, CVT Fluid is not red like ATF. When your Car has a CVT Transmission and the Fluid leaked at Driverside, it is CVT Fluid. I think it looks Brown because it is old and you should change it. CVT Fluid is transparent like Salat Oil, when it is new.
