Hill descent in low and 4WD jerky

I descended a very steep switchback today, one I usually use a 4-wheeler for. In low and 4WD, my Compass seemed like it was breaking for me all the way down. I didn't have to use the breaks at all w/ my foot. It felt very safe and slow, but also was noisy, jerky, and weird. Is this normal? I do have the trail-rated, off-road package. I love this jeep. Great clearance.

CVT is fully engaged all the time. Drop off the gas and engine braking takes hold since there isn't a neutral type slippage as a normal automatic transmission has. They don't coast worth a hoot because of that. You'd have to pop it into neutral gear to coast.

You can disable hill decent control, by turning ESP Full off, then when you are in the low FDII mode everything works the same minus the hill decent control
