Horrible road trip

I'm glad you had a safe trip. Of course it would be better at 70 degrees on dry asphalt at 60mph, but I think 26.9 in snow mode at 30mph isn't bad fuel economy.

Also thank your tires -- they're what kept you on the road. What tires are you running?

I was actually worried about my tires before this trip. I'm still running the super-cheap AS tires that were on it when I bought it. Crosswind HP010 Plus. Never heard of them before I saw that the dealer had installed them and when I looked up online reviews, everyone says that they're total crap. Luckily, they've been good for me so far. I was planning on replacing them with some Falken Wildpeak AT4/Ws before this winter but....
I've never heard of Crosswind either. I agree that the OEM tires on my 2018 Compass were awful in the snow. I forget what they were but they were LRR so not designed for snow. I'm running studded General Altimax Arctics presently. I've had those on my Patriot too. I liked them so much I got a set for my Compass. Excellent snow traction and long-lasting for a snow tire.

You're geared lower so it isn't a fair comparison to any of my Lattitudes or my Sport.
  • My 2018 Latitude could get well into the 30s MPG, approaching even 40 which is far better than I expected.
  • My 2019 Latitude made a round trip to Virginia from NH, including the Skyline Drive, and yielded 34MPG.
  • It's too new to compare my 2025 Sport because I got it in November and of course with winter blend fuel, snow tires, and long warm-ups the MPG is low, but still 27+MPG on mostly rural highways in the hills of SW NH. I'm hoping for some pretty good numbers come spring.
