I just bought a 2015 Compass Latitude and it's OK so far. I also have a 2004 Grand Cherokee that I love and will never part with. This compass version is like a smaller GC even the controls are pretty much the same. There was a strong cigarette smoke odor and I purchased a new cabin filter and while installing it I saw a loose cable to the right of the cabin filter cavity. it appears that a loop on the end had separated. it is coming through a white tube and when you pull on it it feels like it is opening a spring loaded door somewhere near the top of the dash. Is anyone familiar with this part? The AC appears to work fine and after the filter and some ozium the smoke smell is gone. It looks like it should be connected to something that controls a door or diverter somewhere. Any info would be appreciated.
