I've been reading a few Jeep Forums and it seems like the Compass & Patriot (but more so the Compass) have been getting a lot of hate from other Jeep owners. Has anyone else been experienceing this?

Here are my thoughts on it:

I really don't understand people who get so uptight because Jeep is building a different type of vehicle. If they stopped building the Wrangler then I could understand where they're coming from but they're actually building 2 wranglers now so the attacks on the Compass & Patriot make no sense whatsoever to me.

The Wrangler is Great Off Road but terrible On Road.
The Compass is Great On Road but terrible Off Road.
The Patriot is Good Off Road and Good on Road. (The Trail Rated Version)

It's called building different vehicles for different people. Not everyone needs a vehicle that can go off road. Would people prefer that Compass & Patriot owners buy a Honda, Toyota, Subaru... or would they rather that they bought a Jeep and helped the company to prosper? (thus ensuring that the Wrangler keeps getting built)

Jeep is in business to sell products that consumers want and make a profit. They're doing that quite well. I really don't see why Wrangler folks would get so upset. It's not a Jeep for them, it's a Jeep for non-Jeep owners 8)

I'm not sure who they're directing their "hate" to, but their beef should be with Jeep themselves, not Compass owners.

I liken it to the prevailing attitude of many of the (thank god) soon to be former masters at daimler. Many want to remain small time oach builders.

Like these jeep-heads who figure jeep should make 1 model and that is it.

Expanding models and market share, I can't see how it is a bad thing, but I guess if you're some elitist yokel who cares more about git'n'er dun than the health of a company then fine.
